Thinking Wavelength

In his book Living the Way You Were Meant to Live, Tom Paterson provides a framework called “Thinking Wavelength.” Paterson believes that people are hardwired from birth to think and perceive in one of the following ways:

Grinders:

Grinders are detail-oriented doers. They focus on one step at a time, knocking out detail after detail as they plow through lots of work.

Minders:

Minders problem solve and keep the team on task as they effectively “mind the store."

Keepers:

Keepers work well with others as they understand the strategic and operational needs at the same time. They can flex as needed, dealing well with variables and change.

Finders:

Finders are entrepreneurial in spirit, loving change and innovation.

Conceivers:

Conceivers are dreamers who thrive on the big picture and new ideas. They are bright and articulate, but weak execution and taking next steps of action.
